					<description>What a great post.  I would also add that the automobile-centric city is also inevitably uglier and coarser because of its scale.  The size needed to accomodate rampant private automobiles and the resulting sprawl means that our society cannot afford to build fine grained detail in landscape or architecture-it must spend the money on vehicle storage infrastructure and ever wider streets.</description>
